AfroArts AfroArts is a Bristol-based web shop selling original paintings by rural Malawian artists, including a mouth painter! AfroArts are fair traders, opening up a more steady year round business to these artists, and making some fantastic artwork available to you!

MEP is proud to be AfroArts first project partner. AfroArts donates 100% of its profits amongst project partners... So any money you spend with them is helping us acheive our goals! AfroArts believes in putting all money raised from these original pieces of art back into the development of Malawi.

MEP's Malawian Artists

Over the last few years, we have developed friendships with several Malawian Artists, including Raymond, Richie and Tony (pictured). We are keen to support them in their work and have stocked up on plenty of their beautiful paintings to sell at our auctions.

Chembe Village Paper Making Co-operative
We also met with the wonderful Chembe Village Paper Making Co-operative, who support widows and orphans in their community by making recycled paper goods. We are looking to develop these links and help them expand their remarkable enterprise over the coming years.

In 2006, we were lucky enough to be given a demonstration of how they process the raw materials and transform them into beautiful textured paper. Back breaking work, and imagine doing it with a baby strapped to your back!

Their resident artist Jefferson then develops this paper into gorgeous cards, books and even picture frames. It was a truly inspiring thing to witness, a genuine business created by the people of the village to support themselves and the people around them who need an income the most. To contact Chembe Village please email: paperforthepeople@yahoo.co.uk Please be patient for a reply!
